USEFUL
LINKS
On
this page I offer some links to organisations that are involved
with issues that interest me and which, I hope, may interest
you too. Of course, there are links on other pages too, but
these are some I use regularly.

Environmental
issues matter more and more. An organisation
that does really good work and which I’m proud to belong
to is the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust |

International development charities
like Water Aid, Oxfam and Christian Aid do great work
among the poorest people in the world. All of these and
many more can be contacted via the One World homepage |

Social
problems in Britain should concern all of us. One
campaigning organisation I don't always agree with, but
still admire is Shelter
A marvellous source of information on social issues is
the Joseph Rowntree Foundation |

Religion still has a powerful message
in the modern world. I may be a Christian, but I am proud
to stand up in defence of the rights of all religious
groups. Above all, we should respect each other's deepest
beliefs. As an Anglican I value the so-called "establishment"
of the Church of England, which maintains a strong link
between parliament and the church. The Worcester diocese
website is a good read; I am Chair of the Worcester Cathedral
Council. |

Theatre
is one of my passions. The Worcester Swan theatre has
some tremendous shows. We are lucky to be so close to
the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford
Sometimes, but not often, I can get to performances of
the Royal National Theatre in London. |

departments and to the Downing Street site, as well as
the official page of the British monarchy |

Opinion polls shouldn’t always be
taken too seriously, but you might enjoy MORI’s site, |

British
politics can sometimes be a bit inward looking. We often forget
our position in the wider world. Here you can explore this
country's contribution to the work of many valuable international
organisations and get to know more about the British government
itself.

The European Union, of which Britain
sometimes seems to be a somewhat reluctant member |

Our MEPs do great work in the European
Parliament, a body with growing powers to supervise the
work of the European Commission and the Council of Ministers |

The Council of Europe, a much larger
group of countries than the European Union, possible its
best-known organisation is the European Court of Human
Rights, often confused with the EU's European Court of
Justice |

The
Commonwealth
As a member of the UK branch executive committee of the
Commonwealth Parliamentary Association I attach great
importance to our historic links with the Commonwealth
which still bring great benefits to our country and to
the other members of the Commonwealth |
